We’ll be admiring the amphitheater-like Tuckerman Ravine walls from the shore of Hermit Lake, on Mt. Washington. The walk into the floor of the ravine includes breathtaking scenery along the Cutler River, including Crystal Cascade, one of the White Mountains' most treasured waterfalls! We will start at the base of Mt. Washington from Pinkham Notch and hike up the wide tractor path called Tuckerman's Ravine Trail where we will encounter a number of skiers and riders hiking up. After 2.4 miles and 1,900 feet elevation gain we'll reach Ho Jo's where we'll get our magnificent view of the Tuckerman Ravine Bowl.
This trail is always packed so all we'll need is traction, i.e., Micro Spikes. Bring hand warmers for your gloves. Wear winter-insulated boots on your feet, warm socks, dress in layers [no cotton], gloves [mittens are best], warm hat and headlamp/flashlight. Some guys like to have a scarf/neck gaiter to keep their neck warm, gaiters for their boots to keep snow off their boots, ski poles and small thermos for something hot to drink. Don't forget water, lunch and snacks.
After Hike Fun: Everyone is welcome to join us back at our house in Waterville Valley to relax beside our fireplace with views of the Sandwich Mountain/Mad River [BYOB and bring snacks] followed by one of Jon's delicious dinners. We ask $10 per person to help pay for our food costs. Showers are available so bring a change of clothing to make your visit with us more comfortable.
Lodging Option: We have 6 bunks available at our house near Waterville Valley, NH for Friday [$25] and Saturday [$35] includes dinner per night. Coffee/bagels each morning and linen/blankets/towels are provided. Space is limited so email us ASAP to reserve a bunk!
We are meeting at the porch of the Visitor Center for 10AM. Give yourself extra time to park your vehicle as the parking lot may be filled and you will have to park your vehicle at one of the alternative lots further down the road. Trailhead and parking area are on Rt. 16, in Pinkhams Grant, NH, 11.8 miles north of its northern junction with Rt. 302 in Conway and 10.6 miles south of its eastern junction with Rt. 2 in Gorham. There is a very large parking area on the west side of the road at the AMC Pinkham Notch Visitor Center.

Sorry guys, I can't do the 12th. Have a great hike.
Another Saturday, another day of gloomy weather. We were certainly looking forward to hiking with all of you! We’ve been looking at the weather forecast and it’s not looking good. NOAA states an 80% chance of rain and snow showers after 2pm. Plus, we’ll probably not get any views. For the overall safety of the group, we’ve decided to move this hike to the following Saturday, April 12th, we hope you can still join us.

I've only hiked around Tuckerman Ravine once, and it was 3am and pitch black. It will be nice to actually see it this time!
I'll be staying North and not joining you for dinner, will be nice to learn some other trails!
I will take bunk for Saturday night
