Trip Report/Photos
Featured Photo Starting at the trail head for 8am temps were starting to climb into the positive single digits. As we started to climb the air had an effect on our breathing allowing us to take our time up to the summit. The views from the top were amazing, winds were strong with guts blowing other off thier stable stance. The estimated wind chill at the summit was around -35F to -40F. After the summit we headed back into the trees to the tent sites along Liberty Springs trail, where we had lunch. 3 of us had hot soup in out thermos, while one used his hot coco to thaw out his frozen soild grilled chicken breast. After hiking back to the cars we all were spent and ready for a hot shower... Thanks guys for sharing this amazing day with me for my birthday, best gift.

What Members Are Saying About This Trip/Event

  • You found snow and winter conditions above 2000 feet. Glad you kept warm and were able to Summit Liberty and get back safely! Those negative wind chill values were life threatening. I'm sure you guys made record time as it was too cold to stop! Happy B-Day Jason and kudos to your buds for the "frozen" smiles! - JDNnh
  • Thank you Jason for leading us on yet another amazing hike! The views at the summit were absolutely spectacular. My first experience with 'butt sliding' was a blast! As always, the company during the hike made it even more wonderful. Thanks guys! - SteveNH
