GayOutdoors 25th Anniversary Party was a smash! With threats to the gay community accelerating, groups like us are more important than ever.
Jim Morgrage, Club Café General Manager, generously provided us a large platter of appetizers as a gift to us for serving the gay community the past 25 years. We immediately felt welcome and it was much appreciated!
Everyone began to arrive around 5PM. Carl Baker and Mike Boisvert welcomed members entering Club Café’s Moonshine Room with a name tag and entering their name in the raffle. GO tags were available for members to put on their jackets, packs, etc. We had a few guest members eager to learn about GayOutdoors and attending their first adventure.
We've shared some wonderful times hiking, backpacking, camping, biking, paddling, climbing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, vacationing and so much more. It was fun to relive those fond memories. As we mingled, two cute boys served appetizers of sesame chicken skewers, pork dumplings, asparagus roll ups and vegetable spring rolls.
Over 50 GayOutdoors enthusiasts attended from all over New England! The evening flew by and before we knew it, it was time for the evening’s presentation.
The presentation began with Mike Boisvert, founder and President, welcoming everyone. We truly would not exist without the continuing financial support of our community, the volunteers who run our trips & events and everyone who participates in our trips! Mike recognized the Board members attending who are integral with making sure we run smoothly as an organization and to our best to serve the interests of our members.
Pictures of the past 25 years was then flashed upon the wall with Mike sharing all of the fun adventures we’ve had in the past. We’ve summited mountains, walked city parks, enjoyed large camping get together known as the GO Gathering, backpacked wilderness areas, mountain biked country roads, whitewater rafted raging rivers, explored swimming holes, skied on snowy trails, celebrated members’ peak bagging accomplishments, gave back to the community by adopting trails and maintaining them, connected at social events, and much more!
Mike then presented the St. Bernard Award [a cute St. Bernard stuffed dog] to Carl Baker for all his help this past year with making all phases of the club run smoother this year and Steve Lewis who has been instrumental with working on a future website upgrade. We finished the evening raffling REI gift cards of $100, $50 and $25 to some lucky winners!
Something incredible happens when you join gay and gay friendly men on an adventure. You bond. Quickly. For the past 25 years, we’ve connected you with a fantastic community of adventuresome, friendly, laid-back, gay and gay friendly men. We looked forward to doing the same for the next 25 years!
Thank you all for joining us on the celebration and we look forward to seeing you in the Gay Outdoors!
