Trip report: Hike on Bald Mountain
Although a bit cold, upper 20’s, the sun was out and the energy vibrant (that’s a lie, I slept the whole ride up). It was three of us, Mo, Billy and myself. This was Billy’s first time participating in a GO hike, and “like a virgin”, he made it through the wilderness, somehow he made it through, didn't know how lost he was until he found GO. Knowing this was his first GO experience, it was important to be gentle and make it a magical and cherished memory for him. With that in mind, we made a steady climb to the summit. Great views of Mt Megunticook, Ragged Mountain, downtown Camden and the vast open ocean extending to the horizon. The hike was short and only took 1 hr to reach the summit. We made a careful descent down the rocky, icy trail. At the end of our adventure we enjoyed a tasty lunch and then drove back home….I slept the whole way back.
