Gorgeous weather in the low 80’s and blue skies set the tone for the day at Frog Meadow’s 5th Annual BBQ/Garden Party benefit for AIDS Project of Southern VT’s Men’s Program!
There were approximately 125 guys from the surrounding region, including many Gay Outdoorsmen who also participated in the GO Tour de Frog Bike Loop, the GO Rock River Hike & Swim as well as the GO MountainSide Camping Weekend. All told, there were over 25 GO Members in attendance so there were lots of opportunities for social interaction with long-time GO members, GO newbies as well as opportunities to spread the word about GO to potential members!
Many guys checked out Frog Meadow’s hiking trails set on 63 private acres and visited their “Brokeback Cabin", a rustic hunting camp set in a hardwood grove at the far end of the property. A number of us skinny-dipped and swam in the spring-fed swimming pond and hung out in the sun to relax and chat. Several participated in the annual naked croquet tournament while the more adventurous played freestyle bocce (more like golf and more challenging than traditional bocce).
Frog Meadow’s rambling annual and perennial gardens and apple orchard were at their peak and it was fun to meet & mingle with others and wander around the grounds and check out the many ancient stone walls that date back 200+ years. Everybody was issued name tags at registration which made a friendly crowd even friendlier, more accessible and more fun!
Towards the end of the afternoon we gathered to draw the winners of over $2,500 worth of fun raffle prizes, including:

The three Gay Outdoors memberships were won by Brett Freeman (1) and Kurt Swanson (2!). Congrats boys!
In addition to great snacks throughout the afternoon, the day was capped off by a Vermont-style all you-can-eat-BBQ/Dinner that included devilled eggs, cheeseburgers, knockwurst, grilled chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, broccoli salad, watermelon, cookies and brownies.
Thanks to the caring and generosity of those attending, Frog Meadow was able to raise and donate $3,000 to the AIDS Project of Southern Vermont's Men's Program, a key organization that makes a difference in the local community.
