Trip Report/Photos
As we all woke up and some of us enjoyed the sunrise over the notch the early morning chatter stared about the days hike ahead. We all were in agreement to go up the ammo trai. Which was mind blowing! The entire hike up we followed a waterfall and even had to cross it a few time. Just doing that was worth the hike. As we got to the summit the views did not disappoint! It was a busy day at the summit with the trains, auto road, and hikers, but that just made the views even better as there was eye candy for everyone to enjoy. As we started down some wanted to go down a the cog trail while others wanted to enjoy the Jewett trail; I am excited to see the photo about the other trail. I went down the cog trail, which was exposed the entire route. We had amazing views from summit to base of the surrounding mountains. Also hiking along side the cog trains at time we were so close could touch them! Tho I feel the highlight for me was seeing the old coal powered steam engine drive by. We watched it stop mid way up, fill with more water then get its engine going again and chug on by truly mind blowing. I can't wait to see the train photos. As most of us watched the trains drive by and wave, bobcat enjoy waving with his black bear mask on giving the train views something to laugh about. It was an amazing hike thank you Bob for co-leading this hike with me!
