SUMMARY: Weekday Hike series: Dorr Mountain Hike – Acadia National Park Join us as we hike Dorr Mountain via the ladder trail and returning via the Dorr South Ridge trail. (NOTE: no national park pass required) The ascent features stone stairs, iron rung assists and iron rung ladders. At 1,249 feet Dorr is the 3rd highest peak in Acadia. The summit offers stunning views of Mt Desert Narrows to the east and Cadillac Mountain to the west. OUR HIKE - We’ll start at the Tarn and cross over to the ladder trail bypassing the intersections of both Kane Path and Schiff Path. At a bit over 1 mile we will reach the summit. We’ll descend via the Dorr South Ridge Trail – at roughly 1.2 miles we’ll take a left on to the Canon Brook Trail. After 1 mile will reach the point at which we started. Start Time: 9:30 am Elevation gain: 1131 feet Distance: 3.4 miles Hike time: 2 hours max Dress in layers. Proper footwear and traction. Bring lunch. We can consider going to Chocolat in Bar Harbor afterwards for hot beverages and/or baked goodies |
