About Crag Camp Location The Facility Overnight Fees In the evening, the caretaker greets guests and collects fees. Overnight guests must have a means of payment with them: cash or credit card. Overnight Fee $30 (RMC Members) $50 (non-members) (FEES WILL NOT COLLECTED BY TRIP LEADER) Onsite Mattresses are available for use, though guests are encouraged to pack sleeping pads for general preparedness. Counter space and stove boards are provided for cooking. Guests are required to bring their own cooking stoves and utensils. Please note that use of liquid-fuel stoves is prohibited inside RMC camps. Water is available from a spring, approximately a quarter mile west on the Gray Knob Trail. There is no running water in the shelter. Crag Camp has an outhouse equipped with a composting toilet. To maintain serenity suitable to the mountain environment, the use of cell phones, tablets and portable TV’s is prohibited inside RMC camps; playing music on your phone or other device also is not allowed. PREPARATION/WHAT TO BRING Potential winter conditions are possible Group Size It is not fun to exclude anyone. If you cannot attend, please cancel so others may join. The group size is limited to ten. Splitting a larger group among RMC’s facilities does not satisfy this requirement. Should an RMC facility exceed its US Forest Service permitted capacity, the RMC caretaker may ask some guests to relocate to another, less crowded facility. Please do NOT bring any dogs on this hike. Decreasing the impact on the environment is always a priority! Please plan to “carry in and carry out” all items. Collecting other hikers’ debris along the way may also be possible. Weather: If the weather is a concern, any updates or cancellation information will be posted by Thursday before 6 p.m. If there is a cancellation, it will include a “possible” rescheduled date so participants can watch for that opportunity. Safety is a priority! Any time a hiker is injured or lost, a HUGE team of volunteers is dispatched to aid in the search and rescue efforts. No one wants to be injured or put others in harm’s way. Always be prepared. Know your limits. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the hike leaders.
