Summary

Nestled between Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, Back Bay Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park are one of the last remaining undeveloped areas along the Atlantic coast. We will hike from the Wildlife Refuge parking lot to the False Cape (accessible by hiking, biking or paddling only) and back which is about 8 miles. We will have a good chance to see wintering swans, snow geese and other wildlife so if you have binoculars, you may want to bring them with you. On our way back home, there will be a mom-n-pap seafood restaurant where we can stop if interested.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

From Interstate 64, exit on to Indian River Road East. Drive 13 miles, then turn left onto Newbridge Road, then right onto Sandbridge Road and then right onto Sandpiper Road. There is entrance to Back Bay Wildlife Refuge at the end of Sandpiper ($5 fee) and the road leads to the parking lot where we will meet at 1 pm. The park's latitude is 36.593813 and longitude is -75.886521.
