Summary



JOIN US FOR BICYCLING FROM LOS ANGELES TO REDONDO BEACH


This bike ride is 34 mile round trip. It heads west on the Ballona Creek Bicycle Path from La Cienega and Jefferson Blvd. to Marina del Rey with several up and down sections going under bridges and turns south on the mostly flat Marvin Braude Beach Bicycle Path to Redondo Beach. 

We invite all bike riders who are comfortable and experienced riding 34 miles round trip on the beach or other bicycle paths at 12 miles per hour.

This bicycle ride requires practice and endurance. I suggest you get extra practice bicycling before this ride.

NOTE: This bicycle ride is all on bicycle paths but YOU MUST WEAR A HELMET TO RIDE WITH OUR GROUP. 



MEETING PLACE AND TIME:

We will meet at the southwest corner of La Cienega Blvd. and Jefferson Blvd. which is below the Metro stop on the Expo Line. If you ride the Metro with your bicycle to our starting point, you can check the schedule by CLICKING HERE but please allow extra time to arrive early to get ready.

We meet at 8:30 AM for introductions and depart promptly at 9:00 AM.



PARKING:

There is a parking structure at the La Cienega Blvd. and Jefferson Blvd. Expo Line Metro stop that has FREE PARKING.


LUNCH:

We will celebrate Lobsterfest offering a steamed 1 1/4 pound Maine Lobster and corn on the cob for $17 at Quality Seafood Fish Market under Redondo Beach Pier. You may also want to try live sea urchin (Uni) which cost $12 per pound and other seafood dishes.

If you don't like seafood there are other food options available including vegetarian.

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING RULES:


RSVP: If your plans changed and you're not coming please change your RSVP to "No" so we are not expecting you.

SPARE TIRE TUBES: Please make sure you bring two spare tire tubes in case you get flat tires, and make sure your tires are properly inflated.  You'll also need levers to change your tires, a small bicycle pump or CO2 cartridges to fill your tires with air once you change the tubes.


MONEY: 
A taxi charges plenty of money if you need one to pick you up and drive you back to your car if you have a flat tire if you don't have a tube to replace a flat tire.  Please bring sufficient CASH to cover your lunch.


BIKE LOCK:
Do not leave your bicycle unlocked at any time. Please bring your own bicycle lock.


HELMET:
Please be advised that you are required to wear a helmet to ride with our group.  


WATER and FOOD:
It's going to be hot so make sure you bring water to drink so you don't get dehydrated and a power bar or other food to eat in case you get hungry.
