Howdy Folks!

I've got reservations for 6 people to backpack into Havasu Canyon and camp for 2 nights.
The trip starts on the 7th, tho we'll just be camping in the parking lot at Hualapai Hilltop that night. We need an early start on Friday morning, because they only 'receive' guests between 9 and 5, and it's an 8 mile hike from the parking lot to the Supai Village ... and we're going to be carrying packs! It's then another couple miles to the campsite where we'll quickly set-up and 'secure' our things the best we can (the Supai children are known to steal from guests.) Then, it's off to find one of the gorgeous waterfalls with plenty of time to enjoy it before we head back to camp for dinner.

Saturday will be spent trekking further to view the other waterfalls for which this canyon is famous. (Havasu Falls, Mooney Falls, Beaver Falls, Rock Falls, New Navajo Falls)  We'll spend the whole day enjoying the water and the wonder of the canyon.

Sunday we'll pack-up and head back out past the Village and on to our cars for the journey home.

google 'Havasu Falls Pictures' if you wanna check out the wonder that is Havasu!

"A series of beautiful and photogenic waterfalls can be found on Havasu Creek, a tributary to the Grand Canyon. The water flows out of limestone, which gives it a pleasing blue-green hue. The waterfalls have created large plunge pools that are clear, deep and inviting. People come from around the world to view the waterfalls and Grand Canyon scenery, and swim in the pools. October is one of the best months to visit if you want to play in the water. Hiking conditions are excellent and the water is delightful."

The Campsite is considered primitive or 'rustic' with lush vegetation including towering cottonwood trees and crawling grapevines.
Amenities include Spring Water (from the creek, bring your water purifier!)
Composting toilets
Picnic Tables
No Campfires
Sites are first-come; first-served (another reason for our early start)
Trash must be packed out of the canyon.
Showers are not available, but you may bathe in the creek with biodegradable soap (yes, the same creek we get our drinking water from!)
Hualapai Hilltop to Supai, 8mi
Supai to Campground, 2mi
Campground to Mooney Falls, 0.5mi
Mooney Falls to Colorado River, 8mi, 1-way

Weather in the Canyon
October Average High is 78F and Average Low is 47F

This trip is being offered to Gay Outdoors members and my personal list of awesome outdoors buddies. Just because there are no sign-ups on the site, doesn't mean no one is signed-up!  (In fact, at this moment, I have only 3 spots left!)
Registration, Waiver and Payment are due before the trip. If you have questions, e-mail me, contact me through Gay Outdoors, or sign-up for the trip and I'll contact YOU.
