Summary

Join us this time as we once again hit the trail in Schooleys Mt. Park (In the Washington Twp/Long Valley Area of Morris Co.). We will be taking a 1 to 2 hour or so hike in the woods/Mt of the park, followed by another pot luck picnic. Mark it on your calendars for Sat. September 25th at 10:30 AM.

Everyone should bring a cold side dish/dessert for the picnic....bean salad, pasta salad, cookies, pie, etc. Please make enough for 7 to 10 people (that way we will have plenty of food for all to share). I will once again be supplying the hot dogs and chiken, plates, cups, forks, napkins, ice, cups, condiments. (If you have any extra forks, plates, cups,...please bring them as well as we ran out last time...thanks!)

ALSO, bring your own favorite soft drink/water/juice!

PLEASE RSVP by September 23th so I know how many to shop for, PLEASE!

Had great time tubing with you all in Aug. on the Del River.
Looking forward to another good, fun and enjoyable adventure with you all.

You can go to this website for more details about the park....

Email me on GO with your cell phone number, if you want, should we need to contact you if we are waiting for you to show up. We don't want to keep the group waiting too long.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

These are directions off the internet. Some look odd to me and out of the way, but here they are.....

From Interstate 287
I SUGGEST if  you are using Rte 287 North OR South  that you take the Exit for Rout 206 NORTH to CHESTER and the make the LEFT (just past Shop Rite strip mall) near Larsons Turkey Farm Restaurant, Wendys and gas station onto Rte 513 West, Then follow directions below marked with a *.

*Continue for approximately five miles on Route 513 West until you reach the center of Long Valley. Turn RIGHT and proceed up Schooley's Mountain on Schooley's Mountain Road past the Washington Township Municipal Building (which is on the left on one of the sharp bends...note the first sharp bend is to the left and the next big sharp bend is to the right . A short distance past the Municipal Building  and up the very steep hill you will turn RIGHT onto Camp Washington Road, which then vears to the right onto Springtown Rd..The entrance to the park is the on the right,  approximately one half to 3/4miles down the road.

From Route 206
From the junction of Routes 513 and 206 in Chester, take Route 513 West and follow directions above*.

From Interstate 280 West
Take to Route 80 WEST. Take Route 80 WEST to Route 287 SOUTH. Follow 287 SOUTH to Exit 22. Follow Route 206 NORTH to the intersection of Routes 206 and 513 in Chester. Turn LEFT onto Route 513.

(A better way is to take 80 west to Rte 206 south  and a right on to 513 west (at Larson's Turky Farm and gas station)! Look at a map and you can see for yourself)

From Rt 513 East
If taking Rt. 513 East, say from the High Bridge/Clinton area, you take it all the way into Long Valley and then make the left onto and up Schooleys Mt. Road.
